A Flurry of Applications
February: a month of chocolate, love, winter, and summer applications. I kid you not. It seems like every time I find a summer internship or job application, the due dates are in February. February!! Is anyone else aware of the temporal positions of February and summer?! They aren't right next to each other. I know it's hard to believe, but they're actually separated by several months. But for some reason applications are all due right now. That means it's time to critique the old resume.
Now, I've been to a few resume workshops, but I still feel a little underrepresented on paper. So I'm going to utilize my resources and make an excursion to the Career Center. Thankfully, the Career Center is right next to campus, and the staff are pretty much super awesome. I feel like they could really help me look over my skills and give me some summer options. I'm not saying that everyone should start stressing over summer activities; there's still some time left. But you really should start looking for things. Whether you want to take classes at Berkeley or at a community college, or you want to do a little volunteer work somewhere close to home, now is about the time to start planning. Seriously. Everything sneaks up on you otherwise.
So before my midterm season starts, I'm going to make sure I've sent in applications and contacted employers. February stills seems early, but hey, at least it's before the bulk of exams....Wish me luck!
