• Insects Up Close - grades 6-8 - How do you tell a fly from a bee, or a beetle from a but? Using stereo microscopes, studetns will explore the anatomy and classification of insects, the most diverse and successrful group of animals on earth. At magnifications of 10-20x, insects display an astonishing intricacy and beauty that can stimulate appreciation for the diversity of life. (classes at the museum only)

• Insect Mysteries - grades 3-5 - Insects are the most diverse group of organisms on earrth and are vital to the health of our environment. Holding live insects, presered specimens, and giant models, students discover the differences among flies, crickets, bugs, beetles, bees, and butterflies. (classes at the museum only)

• Insects in Action - grades K-2 - Insects are everywhere. Visit the insect zoo and meet some of these amazing creatures alive and up close. Find hidden walking sticks, learn the difference between a male and female cricket, and listen for the hiss of an exotic cockroach. (classes held at the museum or at your school)

• Ponds Alive - grades K-2 - Come to LHS for some close encounters with creatures that live in ponds. Fish, frogs, turtles, salamanders, and crafish are just some of the animals you'ss meet and investigate in this workshop. Using nets, explore our outdoor pond where smaller forms of life, such as dragonfly nymphs, snails, and water boatmen, make their home. (classes held at the museum only)
• Bugs, Beetles, and Butterflies - grades K-2 - There are over one million different kinds of insects and almost as many fun insect topics for young children. Students learn to redognize insect friends and enemies, and follow their life cycles from egg to adult. The fascinating shapes, color patterns, behavior, and growth of insects will amaze young children. (multi-session class held at the museum)
