MONARCH BUTTERFLIES - San Leandro, California

The City of San Leandro has an overwintering colony of monarch butterflies located at the Marina Golf Course. Numbers have ranged over the years from 1,500 - 25,000. Besides offering school field trips during Mondays and Tuesdays, they offer free public tours (no reservation necessary) on Saturdays at 10:30, 12:30, and 2:30. The tours begin at the Mulford-Marina Branch Library (13699 Aurora Drive). For more information, contact 510-577-3462.
