Education and Training Program (NET)
NET provides comprehensive nutrition
information and education programs for children, teachers, child nutrition
personnel, program administrators, and parents in schools and child
care agencies. The program also provides leadership and advocacy in
nutrition through partnerships with the community, governmental agencies,

*Nutrition
Education and Training Academy (NETA)
NETA is a pilot teacher training
project to teach childcare providers and preschool teachers about childhood
nutrition and food safety in an attempt to impact knowledge and behavior
of children interacting with these providers. The project is being conducted
by the Cooperative Extension in Alameda County and is funded by the
California Department of Education.

Nutrition
Established by USDA, Team Nutrition
seeks to support the continuous improvement of school meals and to promote
the health and education of children. California became the first Team
Nutrition state partner on August 31, 1995. Team Nutrition provides
free resources: state-of-the-art nutrition education materials for children
and families and training/technical assistance for food service professionals.

*SHAPE
California: Shaping Health as Partners in Education
SHAPE is a network of over 90 school districts working together
to improve the health and academic success of California children. Working
as a team, child nutrition staff, teachers, school administrators, family,
and the community work to provide a consistent nutrition message in
child nutrition programs, classrooms, and throughout the school environment.
The program uses a comprehensive approach to provide quality meal service,
promote nutrition education, develop and apply nutrition policies, and
build partnerships with the community.
