The base map below shows the relative
total dam storage capacity for each California county. A point for each
California dam is superimposed, with size proportional to maximum storage
capacity for each dam. Units are all in acre-feet; one acre-foot is the amount
of water which will cover an acre, one foot deep. Note the concentration of dam
water represented in Shasta and Trinity counties to the North, contained
primarily in the very large Shasta and Trinity dams.
