Leadership and Administration

The Center for Forestry is lead by two co-directors. One director, John Battles, has specific responsibility for supervising the operation of research forests and promoting basic research opportunities. The other co-director, Gary Nakamura focuses on applied research and outreach. Both directors share in strategic planning and development. Together with the Associate Dean of Forestry Greg Biging, they coordinate expertise from the Berkeley Campus, the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources, non-governmental organizations, and other county, state, and federal agencies to address important research and outreach needs related to forestry.
