From Berkeley proceed to Highway 24, exiting at Orinda and taking Camino Pablo 2 miles to Bear Creek Road, or proceed above the campus stadium through Tilden Park on Wildcat Canyon Road to Camino Pablo. Cross Camino Pablo onto Bear Creek Road. Follow Bear Creek Road for 4 miles to Happy Valley Road, where a right turn leads to Russell Reservation. If you get to Briones Regional Park, you have passed Happy Valley Road. The entrance to Russell Reservation is on a very sharp corner and is gated, although normally unlocked during daylight hours.
