Announcements

Graduation Announcements are formal notices to send to family and friends announcing your graduation.

CNR does not require that students purchase announcements. You can purchase them through the Cal Student Store, 510-642-7028.

You may also check out their Information Flyer.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Instruction and Student Affairs.

Information from the Cal Student Store :

Generic Announcements:
Generic announcements come in packs of 10 for $14 and include announcements, inner and outer envelopes, and cards upon which you can write your name and degree. Generic announcements are also available in Spanish.

Personalized Announcements:
Personalized announcements give your name, major, degree, and the date, time, and location of the ceremony in the text of the card. You may also include an additional line of text to announce honors, an emphasis in a major, your minor, or your double major at no extra charge. There is enough room to include two dates on your announcement, so that simultaneous degree students can choose to include the dates of both ceremonies if desired.

Personalized announcements come with inner and outer envelopes. The minimum order is 25 announcements for $50.00, after which you can order more in sets of 10 for $20.00. Personalized announcements are available for pick-up 48 hours after receipt of purchase.

Announcements are formal notices, not invitations. You may include an invitation with your announcement. Invitations

Diplomas

Diplomas are not awarded at CNR Commencement. Approximately four months after your graduation date, you may obtain your diploma in person at the Office of the Registrar, or you may request to have it mailed to you. You must have all of your fees paid, returned all library books, and have no other outstanding concerns.

For more information, contact the Office of the Registrar.

Cap & Gown

All graduates must be in cap and gown to participate in the processional. The Cal Student Store manages cap and gown rentals. Rentals can be ordered starting February 26, .

Caps and gowns are distributed Monday - Wednesday during the last week in April.

For more details, see the Graduation Department of the Cal Student Store or call 510-642-7028, or check out this Information Flyer.

Distinction Cords:
Students who are graduating with Distinction may choose to wear a distinction cord with their commencement robe. The distinction cord is a double gold rope that hangs from the back of the neck and dangles in front.

Students on the spring degree list who will graduate with Distinction are automatically eligible to buy these cords. Bring your student ID with you to the Cal Student Store. Summer and Fall graduates who earned Distinction must speak to the Office of Instruction and Student Affairs so that we can inform the Cal Student Store of the your eligibility.

Because the minimum GPA for Distinction varies from year to year, we regret that intended Fall graduates are not eligible for Distinction cords for the Spring ceremony.

College Honors Program Cords:
This is a blue, gold, and green cord. This special cord is presented to those students who participate in a year-long honors thesis program and present their thesis at the College of Natural Resources Honors Symposium.

Graduation Stoles:
All students have the option of wearing a UC Berkeley stole with their cap and gown. The stole is a length of satin with an embroidered UCB seal patch. You can also have the stole embroidered with the name of your fraternity or sorority, student organization or club, sports team, or "Class of ." Stoles can be purchased from the Cal Student Store and are NOT REQUIRED.
