National Interagency Fire Center

This interactive web site gives information on reducing the risk of loss to fire in the wildland urban interface. It is sponsored by the Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs and other government agencies.

 

International Association of Wildland Fire

The International Association of Wildland Fire is well known and has many resources. They publish The International Journal of Wildland Fire and Wildfire Magazine as well as other publications. They have a large library of wildland fire materials and an online bookstore. They have a large database of people involved in wildland fire. This organization is very international in scope.

 

The International Fire Information Network

FireNet as an on-line information service for everyone interested in rural and landscape fires. The service is available via the Internet and based out of Australia. The information concerns all aspects of fire science and management - including fire behaviour, fire weather, fire prevention, mitigation and suppression, fire ecology and fire effects. The maintain a list serve that has many people signed up from all over the world, including many fire researchers. If you want to get help with a research question, you will usually get quite a response on the list serve.

 

CSIRO Bushfire Behaviour and Management

This is one of biggest fire behavior and modeling projects in the world. The Bushfire Behaviour and Management Group has been responsible for the development of the Australian Fire Danger Rating Systems for both grasslands and forests. Much of their present work is aimed at improving these systems and providing rural fire fighters with the best tools with which to predict fire danger and fire behaviour.

 

Canadian Wildfire! Network

They have a collection of 50 pages and over 700 links to forest fire information gathered from the World Wide Web. UC Forest Products Laboratory Fire Research

This is a site describing some major research in urban/wildland fire hazard mitigation being conducted at the Forest Products Lab. The Lab is associated with UC Berkeley and is in Richmond, CA.
