Broadly speaking there are basically two groups of methods for counting wildlife, direct and indirect. In direct methods you count the wildlife itself. With indirect methods you measure traces or secondary evidence of wildlife, and then use some kind of theory to derive an estimate of the population or populations trends based on the observations. Each type of method had its advantages and disadvantages. The methods with asteriks are those used by ADMADE.
