Major Projects

Photo Ecometrics

Use of digital photogrammetry and multispectral remote sensing techniques to derive precise ecological measurements. One of the projects we are conducting is forest ecological parameters measurements using photo ecometrics techniques. We are developing an integrated system that combines digital camera with GPS and Inertial Navigation Systems. Our goal is to develop algorithms to precisely measure tree heights, crown closure, stand density, volume, and identify tree species.

Hyperspectral Data Analysis

Use of imaging spectrometer data and spectrometer data to recognize tree species, estimate leaf-area indices and biogeochemical constituents.

Global Change Modeling

Develop and assess a global temperature and CO2 coupled model to predict the global temperature and Carbon cycling.

GIS Data Uncertainty Determination, Representation, and Modeling

Digitizing error estimation using polynomial modeling techniques. Classification of multi-source data using neural netowrks. Classification uncertainty modeling using Bayesian, evidential reasoning, and neural network schemes.
