The CACTOS stand description consists of the following data in the order shown:

Stand name of up to 20 characters followed by the number of tree records
in the description, the elevation, and a growth adjustment (an optional
number of extra years to grow the standin the first period). (below)

Fifty-year site indices for each species.Site
index must be present for each species present. Zeros may be entered
for species not present on the plot.

Breast-height ages for each species. Zeros may be entered if stand
component is not even aged or if actual values are not known. Age is
a descriptive value only and is not needed for the simulations.

Individual tree records follow, one per line. Each tree record has
the following five items: species code, DBH in inches, total height
in feet, live crown ratio (decimal fraction), and the number of trees
per acre each tree record represents.
Examples of the stand description are given for fixed
format and variable format.
