Jessica Counihan
About Jessica Counihan

I'm from:

Colorado! I have also spent numerous years in Eastern Pennsylvania and abroad in Tallinn, Estonia.

What brought me here:

California, especially the Bay Area, is an intriguing place... there is a lot to do, see, explore, and the amount of quality science that happens here (not only at Berkeley, but also at nearby UCSF and Stanford) is remarkable. I wanted to attend an institution that offered excellent science and training opportunities while at the same time would allow me to explore and enjoy my surroundings. UC Berkeley was the perfect fit.

Current stage in program:

I am a second-year student in Professor Nomura's lab. I am also the 2014-2015 Graduate Assembly Delegate for the Metabolic Biology program.

Outside of lab I love:

Traveling! Also I enjoy hiking, rock-climbing, gardening, going to concerts (which are plentiful here!), and hanging out with my wonderful husband and friends!
